What happens when your entire business depends on your memory, energy, and ability to keep everything organized?
Patrick sits down with Wendy McSparren, LCSW, group practice owner, and CEO of Admirra, to explore the mental load of entrepreneurship and why sustainable systems are essential, especially for neurodivergent business owners.
They discuss the challenges of working memory, executive functioning, delegation, and managing a growing therapy practice—and how the right systems and automations can reduce overwhelm, prevent things from falling through the cracks, and create more breathing room.
3 Key Takeaways:
- Your brain shouldn't have to hold your entire business together. Documenting processes and creating reliable systems can reduce cognitive overload and dependence on working memory.
- Systems should support the way you actually work. Before investing in software or delegating responsibilities, understand your workflows, identify your needs, and choose tools that fit.
- Getting organized is about reclaiming your capacity. The right automations and processes can free up time and energy for the work that matters most.
More about Wendy:
Wendy McSparren, LCSW, is the co-founder and CEO of Admirra, a CRM and clinical operations platform for mental health group practices. She also owns Westmoreland Psychotherapy Associates, the Pennsylvania group practice that inspired Admirra in the first place.
Wendy is a clinician and systems builder who spent years being the system: every referral, every match, every follow-up living in her head or a spreadsheet built at 11 pm. She built Admirra so practice owners and clinicians could stop white-knuckling operations and get back to the work they trained for.
She still sees a small caseload, on purpose. It keeps her honest about what the work actually costs.
