I’m Patrick Casale, LCMHC

AuDHD TedX speaker, Mental Health Therapist, Group Practice Owner, Podcaster, Retreat and Conference Host, Content + Community Creator.

The list goes on and on, and probably why I found myself in such deep, dark, Autistic burnout.

More importantly, a lover of Lord Of The Rings, Game Of Thrones (minus season 8---fuck that noise), Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Red Panda, Highland Cow, Turtle, Shih Tzu, Anthony Bourdain, Naked and Afraid, and Cooking Competitions.

Patrick’s Story

I’ve worked in the helping profession since 2008, and, like many therapists, I started my career in a community mental health job where instead of feeling fulfilled, I felt overworked, burnt out, taken for granted, underpaid, and underappreciated.

I knew I wanted to leave but I  feared the uncertainty of private practice, because, at the time, I had no fucking clue how to start a business.  Grad school certainly didn't teach me anything about it, and it was almost a taboo topic to discuss.

After a lot of hard work, even more struggles, and trial-and-error, I successfully launched my private practice. Then a couple of years after that, I launched a thriving group practice.

Since graduating in 2015, I have created a thriving coaching business, a group practice of 20+ therapists, TEDx speaker, am the host of 2 globally successful podcasts, have hosted 22 international retreats, and have been a keynote speaker in multiple events.

The sky is the limit but we need to know how valuable our skills are and where to apply them.   And more importantly, we need to understand how to create businesses that align with our values and work with our neurotypes instead of against them.

I learned that I am Autistic ADHD or AUDHD along the way, and through all of these successes, ultimately ended up in severe Autistic burnout.  Everything that I do is through the lens of my lived experience, trying to make the hard things relatable, by always leading with authenticity and vulnerability

If I can help one person feel a little less alone by sharing the struggles that I experience, then I consider it a life worth lived.

Doubt Yourself, Do It anyway.

Working with Me Is...

  • Rooted in lived experience, not just theory
  • Unfiltered, supportive, and bullshit-free
  • Centered around your identity and values
  • Collaborative—not one-size-fits-all
  • Focused on real growth, not performative success
  • Full of encouragement, honesty, and strategy
  • A space to feel seen, not judged

Working with Me Is Not...

  • Corporate, clinical, or cookie-cutter
  • About pretending to have it all together
  • Focused only on profit or scaling fast
  • Here to "fix" you—because you're not broken
  • A hustle-at-all-costs mindset
  • About bypassing fear or discomfort
  • A place where neurodivergence is an afterthought

Self Doubt Is Real.  Perfectionism is Painful.

Everything that I've created has been rooted in it.  I second guess everything that I do, often thinking that I don't have anything to offer.

The reality is that I believe self doubt, impostor syndrome, and perfectionism is just one very important side of the coin.  The other side is humility, vulnerability, and authenticity.

It's ok to embrace both sides, and to acknowledge that small business ownership is a rollercoaster ride.

Learning that I was AuDHD changed everything for me.  The ability to unmask authentically has helped me acknowledge that being a neurodivergent business owner is not only unbelievably difficult, but also incredibly rewarding.  Especially when I work with my neurotype, instead of against it.

For those of us with more sensitive nervous systems who are trying to create and put things into the world, we can sometimes feel like square pegs being jammed into round holes.

Building the plane as you fly it and taking imperfect action is how I've created everything in my life, and it's allowed me to take back some power and control, no longer allowing self doubt to prevent me from moving forward.

The lows are really fucking hard.  The fear is normal.  It is telling us that you're on the right track.  It's time to use failure as a data point and not let it prevent you from pursuing your dreams.

The highs are unparalleled.

I believe in using fear as a gas pedal, not a brake.  I use it as my compass, telling me that I'm on the right track.  Almost like Thorin's map of the Lonely Mountain.
