PATRICK'S STORY

I’ve worked in the helping profession since 2008, and, like many therapists, I started my career in a community mental health job where instead of feeling fulfilled, I felt overworked, burnt out, taken for granted, underpaid, and underappreciated.

I knew I wanted to leave but I  feared the uncertainty of private practice, because, at the time, I had no fucking clue how to start a business.  Grad school certainly didn't teach me anything about it, and it was almost a taboo topic to discuss.

After a lot of work, some struggles, and trial-and-error, I successfully launched my private practice. Then a couple of years after that, I launched a thriving group practice.

Since graduating in 2015, I have created a thriving coaching business, a group practice of 20+ clinicians, am the host of 2 globally successful podcasts, have hosted 10 international retreats, and have been a keynote speaker in multiple events.

The sky is the limit but we need to know how valuable our skills are and where to apply them.

Doubt Yourself, Do It anyway

I am truly passionate about empowering therapists and mental health professionals to take the steps they need to create more successful lives and careers while working flexible hours, taking more vacations, and using their precious clinical skills effectively.

When it comes to being a successful private practice and small business owner, I’ve already been there and done that, so now I help other mental health entrepreneurs all over the world save time, skip the guesswork, and start seeing clients sooner with their own private practices.

IMPOSTOR SYNDROME IS REAL

On my last day in community mental health, my manager took me out to lunch for an exit interview and promptly told me that I would be back within 30 days and that no one is ever successful on their own. I left feeling angry, hopeless, and defeated.

When I did get clients, I felt a false sense of confidence, always believing that the calls would stop, that I just lucked into them. My impostor syndrome was through the FUCKING roof.

Starting a small business isn’t always going to be easy. Self-employment is not all coffee shops and 4-day weekends, and it can feel like a roller coaster. There are definitely lots of highs and lows.

The lows hurt, but they also teach and create growth, not just professionally but personally as well. When the phone isn’t ringing, that’s typically when impostor syndrome sets in.

However, the highs are unparalleled.

Taking the leap and creating a thriving private practice is one of the best feelings in the world.

I can help guide you, and together we can create a lifestyle full of freedom, flexibility, and unparalleled success.

“Patrick is incredibly patient and helpful with the process of starting a private practice, from insurance paperwork, business paperwork, to coaching through setting up a Simple Practice account. I would have felt totally overwhelmed without his help!”

-Kellie H, Therapist

“Patrick is probably one of the most patient people I know, therapist or not. He was incredibly helpful in getting my private practice off the ground right before the pandemic hit. I don’t know if I would have had the gumption to get it up and going without his help and guidance: from helping with a Simple Practice account to talking me down from a panic attack while thinking of all I had to do, he is someone I would absolutely recommend in building your bright future!”

-Alli R, Therapist

“Patrick was incredibly helpful when I was first researching starting my private practice. He’s very knowledgeable about the in’s and out’s of running a therapy business and wants nothing more than to see other entrepreneurs be successful! You won’t regret working with him, in any capacity!”
