Duration: 4 CE Hours | Level: Intermediate
In this intensive 4-hour workshop, we move beyond "awareness" and into the active practice of neuro-affirming supervision. Traditional supervision often prioritizes linear processing, upholds social masking, and operates on rigid organizational structures—standards that can be inherently exclusionary for Autistic, ADHD, Gifted, OCD, PDA, or Dyslexic profiles.
This training explores the supervisory relationship and provides a framework for supporting the unique clinical strengths and sensory and cognitive needs of ND therapists. We will deconstruct "professionalism" and rebuild a collaborative model that honors the Neurodivergent brain.
When: Friday, March 27, 2026 10am-2:30pm (4 NBCC CEs)
Where: Winter to Spring Wellness 5 Ravenscroft Dr. #102 Asheville, NC (In person)
Cost: Early bird rate $119 until Friday, March 6; Standard rate $149 after March 6
We are limiting the number of participants to
10 people so register now!
Learning Objectives
- Identify how traditional supervision standards may inadvertently traumatize ND clinicians through forced masking.
- Develop a "Neuro-Inclusive Supervision Agreement" that accounts for sensory needs, communication preferences, and executive functioning support.
- Analyze the intersection of Giftedness and ND profiles in the therapy room, particularly regarding "over-excitabilities.”
- Implement strategies for supporting therapists in maintaining clinical documentation and administrative boundaries without triggering shame-based cycles.
- Recognize the power of Interest-Based Nervous Systems: Leveraging special interests and hyper-focus as clinical strengths
Our Approach: This training is designed with the neurodivergent learner in mind. We utilize clear headers, bulleted takeaways, prioritize relationship and connection, and provide space for sensory breaks to ensure the environment is as affirming as the content.
Meet Jennifer Garrett, MA, LCMHC-S
I am a white, 51 year old, AuDHD queer woman from the South.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and was especially drawn to working with kids with developmental delays and adapted Physical Education. I later worked in youth development for the YMCA of Middle Tennessee for nearly 10 years. Working with teens inspired me to complete a Masters degree in Community Mental Health and Counseling. I’ve been licensed as a counselor for 16 years and been a LCMHCS supervisor for 7 years.
About 6 years ago I started learning bits and pieces about how Autism shows up in women and saw myself in these descriptions. In the past two years I have embraced that identity for myself and have been diagnosed AuDHD in the past year. I am a therapist, Clinical Director and Supervisor at Resilient Mind Counseling, proudly and enthusiastically supporting Autistic clients and supervising Neurodivergent therapists!
